Her words touch me more now, as a mom, then they ever could have as an 18 year old who wanted to change the world. Because she did not say, 'come over here to India and do BIG things'...she said in essence: Stay where you are today. Love those in your path today. Don't try and do it all, but even the simple tasks can be done with great love. Oh. Like, folding clothes? Like, bathing a child who does not want to be bathed? Like picking up a child from another practice? Like packing a lunch? Like cleaning the crumbs out of the car? Like, reading an extra chapter to a child who needs a little more snuggle time?
I struggle with wanting to do good works over there. To those people who don't annoy me. To those people who really need me. All the while I complain about three little ones (and one big one) who do need me right here. I cry over the brokenness in the world, those who face terror today-- and yet, I know that I don't have power to change everything for everyone, but I do have the power to make a difference in these lives- right here within these walls.
With words of love. With actions of love.
I'm going to post a link to today's post on this one blog-- mostly, because I want everyone to read it. and goes along perfectly with these three precious quotes.

I love this part, the author writes:
"I want that — I want to be counted as People of the Cross, carrying around the Cross in my head — because that’s the only way there will be real love in my hands and feet and heart."
