I should be sleeping right now.
I should be packing, cleaning, doing one of the 3 million things on my list.
Because- here it is loud and clear- we are moving to the City!
Oh, the city!
How we love it!!!! (Believe it or not, some people do not love the city as much as we do.)
For 8 years, we have journeyed up for hiking, biking, food galore, ice cream (some more!) and fun. Nearly every time we've asked God to shine on the city, to grow churches there, to let our church reach into the city, and for all people to be touched by His love.
We'd tried to move there. We had looked for our options- none of which seemed very awesome. We had finally 'given up' and pretty much I'd changed my tune to: "Well, maybe one day we can retire there?"
We had literally said to each other- it would have to be a miracle for us to ever be able to afford something (that's not in a heck-a scary spot!)
And, so we made plans to move out of this home- that has been so lovely- to another Millbrae home. We had looked to see what was available, we had left letters in the mailboxes of homes that were vacant, we had 'pleaded' our case to the owner of a nearby house. And, yet, we weren't settled. The move date kept shifting, the pricing uncertain. But, I began packing. 20 boxes. And, then...
We received an email. A family wants to share the home they grew up in with us! Renting it within our price range! In a beautiful neighborhood! With 3 bedrooms-- and parking for all our visitors!! And fog-- which we actually like :).
And so, that first Sunday I stood in church with a secret. Like the kind you carry when you've first found out that you are pregnant. In fact, like the kind when we had calls about foster/adoption, but things were still uncertain.
Oh, the adventure of uncertainty!!!
How we hate it! (We much prefer to have all our plans laid out clearly. And this was definitely an 11th hour curveball option.)
So, the same week Rob is also preaching on Nehemiah-- and the city.
And, the same week, I meet with a friend- one of a handful of pastor's wives who have a heart for-- the city.
And, our elders meet and are open to growth into-- the city.
And, as we look in the Bible, Paul moves and shares Good news to -- the city. No matter what awaits him there. He goes WHEREVER the Lord leads him, even if it is difficult.
And, as we sought advice, we got much encouragement to move to --the city.
So, San Francisco, here we come.
Next weekend :)
We have a lot to do!
Oh yeah, and my mission trip is coming up. Next month:). Big things, exciting things, Walk-by-Faith kinds of things!
I already am expecting each kid to have a meltdown. And, I'm sure my meltdown will come sometime between move and mission trip. Prayers welcome.
