We just returned from my cousin's wedding. It was a fun southern wedding- and my girlie got to be the lovely flower girl. Hunnie got to be the handsome Officiant. She walked down the aisle as the sun streamed in through the windows with a crown made of flowers- quite similar to the daisy crown that adorned my head on my wedding day 13 years ago.
On the night before my wedding...
I remember the excitement that June 1st was finally here after talking about that date for so long.
The anticipation grew as each guest arrived into town.
I had quickly sewn up some tractor material to make cute little curtains for my new kitchen- in my new house- where all the groomsmen were staying. (Because I'm sure they noticed.)
I remember checking and double checking my lists- because the day was finally here and my dress, shoes, and garter were all laid out to be worn. Totally forgot my jewelry!
I had been showered with gifts, and had enjoyed a Bridesmaid's Tea with some of the best girls in the world (or at least in my short 21 years).
We had just finished our 70's themed Rehearsal Dinner in Rollie Finger's backyard, where our mamas had hula hooped, I had held my new baby niece and Elvis had serenaded us all.
And, at last, I was snuggled into bed, with my journal to practice my vows and my bag beside me packed for my first big sleepover with my HUSBAND.
I had dreams. I had vows. And these vows still ring true today. I gave my husband a "promise", a "prayer" and a "pledge"- words that I continue to live by. Our song was, "I'll Go Wherever You Will Go." And, that has been lived out-- it is easy to make comfort and security your goal-- but we continue to take risks together. We seek adventures together. And, most importantly, we still seek to follow God Wherever HE leads. We journeyed through church planting in Vegas, to seminary in Pasadena, to San Mateo and now Millbrae. Happy that Hunnie and I are living our dream. And fighting for a lifetime of love. And still going on dates- and still dancing.
Happy that I got to spend time last weekend with our family- got to hug my sweet Grandparents- got to see cousins play with cousins and sweet sisters doing their sweet sisterly stuff. We ate lots of cake and all were still dancing!
